Faithful Organizing for Reproductive Freedom

At SACReD, our faiths call us to love our neighbors. To us, that means working for justice for everyone. That includes people seeking abortions. It includes immigrant families in need of shelter. It includes LGBTQ+ youth looking for support.

Right now, many people of faith are feeling disillusioned. The religious representations they see don’t match their values. For many of us, our faith is grounded in values like dignity, compassion, and community. That simply doesn’t fit with how faith is being twisted to spread hate and cause harm to vulnerable people.

At SACReD, we believe we should all be free: Free to practice the religion of our choice. Free to have a child, or not. Free to raise our kids in safe and healthy environments. This is the core of reproductive justice.

You have likely seen the ways that “White Christian Nationalism” is threatening the safety and wellbeing of our neighbors. White Christian Nationalism insists on the supremacy of white people. It works to build a country that serves a distorted understanding of Christianity. It does this while oppressing everyone who does not fit. These beliefs directly contradict many of the teachings of Christ. They also threaten people’s freedoms and lives.

Why are we organizing? Because we know that as people from all different beliefs, we are strongest when we work together.

We won’t allow a small minority to weaponize our faiths to spread hatred.

We instead are investing in building and equipping the majority to lead faithfully.

We defend people’s access to birth control, abortion, and maternal healthcare. We fight for the things our families need to thrive, not scrape by: living wages, education, transportation, food. We push back against policing and pollution that hurts our children.

We invite you to join us. Whether you’re a faith leader, a person of faith, or exploring how faith fits into your life, you are welcome.

Education

A SACReD Journey is our curriculum designed to guide communities through learning about Reproductive Justice. We connect the history of RJ to faith. We find healing through storytelling. And we identify the ways that communities can join in the work of organizing for Reproductive Justice.

Organizing

We are building out a SACReD network of congregations and communities who are committed to acting for justice as an act of faith.

RCCS is a multi-faith network of organizations, congregations, and individuals committed to Reproductive Justice.

Transforming Power Together

The SACReD Gathering is a bi-annual conference. At the Gathering we deepen our connections, craft healing together, hone our organizing skills, and amplify our courage to build reproductive dignity and bodily autonomy for all.
